מאמר להבין ענין הברכות

This maamar explains the idea of brachos in general, and especially the first two brachos of the Sheva Brachos that are said by a Chasunah.

We learn the difference between a short bracha (Matbeia Ketzara) and a bracha that begins and ends with Baruch (Matbeia Arucha).

The first corresponds to Adam, and the second to Chava. Even though the creation of Chava was to complete the kavana of Dira Betachtonim, since the idea of Chava is a revealed world, which enables kelipos to take hold, there needs to be a Shemirah, which is the idea of the conclusion with Baruch.

The same is true with Torah Shebichsav and Torah Shebaal Peh. The kavana is expressed especially in Torah Shebaal Peh, but because there is additional gilui it needs an extra Shemirah. It needs to be learned with the right kavana.

This is also true with Avodas Hashem, that even though the kavana is that the Pnimius Halev should come to Chitzonius Halev, since Chitzonius Halev is gilui it needs a Shemirah – that it should be connected to the Yechidah of the Neshama so the kelipah will not receive additional chayus from it.

History of the Maamar:

This maamar (as is the case with many) was said by the Alter Rebbe during a chasunah of one of the Alter Rebbe’s children or einiklach.

This maamar is only one and a half blatt in Torah Ohr. The Tzemach Tzedek has this maamar with hagahos printed in Ohr HaTorah, and there it is about 45 pages long. There is also a hemshech based on it from the Rebbe Maharash called “Chayav Adam Levarech” (about saying 100 brachos a day) which is an entire sefer.
